Aim of this blog
COVID-19 has changed the way we’ve been living for the past 6 months or so. Social distancing and lockdown restrictions have affected many aspects related to our lives.
Remote working has become the norm for many employees. Meeting up with groups of friends was taken for granted and we’ve resorted to video-calling to maintain a close connection. Supermarket visits have become a tedious and possibly scary errand for some. Outdoor activities are still limited. The list of restrictions is endless.
All in all, we’ve all spent way more time on the web during this period of social isolation or quarantine. Being that the web is such a diverse space I’m offering my guidance and assistance to anyone seeking it.
1 – Education on cyber security & staying safe online: I will be posting more information related to the importance on cyber security and remaining safe online. More on this can be found here. Content will range from the different types of tactics that are used from a hacker’s perspective (such as online scams), further explaining/simplifying these issues and also recommending ways on how to deal with them.
2 – Assistance in technical and internet related issues: Many vulnerable individuals especially the elderly, might struggle with internet issues and other technical devices (be it a laptop, smartphone or any other handheld device). Even with lockdown restrictions easing, getting physical assistance for certain individuals might be a bit of a struggle. However, this should not prevent us from being able to solve their issues and that is where I would also like to offer my assistance.
Obviously, it might be challenging for this blog post to reach individuals who might have such technical/internet issues in the first place. Therefore, if you know of anyone, be it a friend or a relative, please do reach out to me (through my contact form or send me an email) and we can then arrange a form of communication with the respective person. Moreover, the targeted group mentioned above (vulnerable and elderly) is just an example of who might be more likely to face such challenges. Anyone else is more than welcome to contact me.
3 – Someone to talk to: Lockdown restrictions and remote working have prevented us from physically interacting with others, be it friends, family or colleagues. This could create a sense of isolation and boredom. This also has a negative impact on our mental health. Thankfully, there are many organisations out there you can reach out to in case you are feeling lonely. Just to extend this, if there is anyone out there who might be facing such issues and would like to have chat, just reach out!
